With the development of the national economy and the propulsion of the developing the western region, more and more construction work is being built in the loess area, especially the highway construction, but the stability of slope is a serious problem in this area. If the treatment of this problem isn't good, not only meeting great damage on the man power and the economy, more importantly bringing the normal run of the engineering trouble, therefore, the stability analysis of slope and its protecting of the high slope occupy an important position in the slope engineering. This paper analyzed the existent shortage and many problems in the high slope research, then commence the research from the slope stabilization and its protecting scheme. According to the research, this paper obtained some results as follows:First of all, on the basis of the survey, analysis and research many highway slopes that have already set up, the main deformation and destruction forms of high loess slope and its deformation and destruction mode are brought forward. The forms are: slope wash, slope peeling, sliding mass deformation by collapsibility, collapse, mudflow, and often seen slumping. The destruction modes are like these: slump and landslide model, collapse model and slope surface destruction model. This paper induced the factor of the slope deformation to three main aspects for the internal factors, outside condition and factitiousness factor.Secondly, the GeoStudio 2004 software packages are used to calculate the slope stability and the finite element simulation analysis of the high loess slopes of the Huang-Yan highway, according to the results can find that the existence of the calcareous nodules layer is good to the stability of the slope as their big cohesion, so the positive influence can be considered in the calculation appraisal. It can also find that set flat bench can lower the shearing stress concentration of the toe of slope, change the stress strain distribution of the slope, and be advantageous to the stability of the slope.
