Distribution automation is an effective means to enhance power supply reliability and energy quality, and is also an important research topic in power distribution area. Feeder Automation (FA) is one of the important contents of the distribution automation. As the fundamental control unit of Feeder Automation, the feeder terminal unit (FTU) plays an important role in realizing the Feeder Automation and distribution automation. This paper studied lots of references and interrelateted technical data, analyzed essential characteristic of FTU, and presented a type of FTU based on DSP and RTOS(Real-Time Operating System) μC/OS-Ⅱ.The design and implement of hardware and software system are mainly discussed in this thesis. With regards to the hardware design, a DSP chip TMS320F206 is adopted as CPU, and builds a hardware platform of sample, control, communication and human interface. μC/OS-Ⅱ is used as the base and development platform of the application software, and each function part of the software system is designed as independent tasks, such as testing power parameter calculating, switch checking and control, communication and human interface. Finally, in the basis of development in hardware and software part, this thesis presents the results of primary test and analyses the causes of existing errors, the result proves that the system can meet the most requirement of designation for FTU.
