As a coin has two sides, the rapid development of auto industry promote international economy develop rapidly in one hand, on the other hand it brings the serious harmful effects day by day for the environment, economy and society of the human survival. such as the traffic accident, traffic jam, the air pollution, transportation and efficiency drops.Investigating improves that the intersection of urban road causes traffic flow stop, accident, and vehicle delay more easily; it is a bottleneck of the urban communications and transportation. So how to ensure traffic safety of intersection and improve intersection efficiency has aroused great concern from people.I am a number of traffic control research group, which mainly engaged in urban traffic control and traffic organization .now we are engaged in the project "the traffic management of Jianshui and Kunming city of Yunnan province, china" traffic signal control is a main job among the jobTo this task, this paper launches research to the optimal algorithms of the level intersection traffic signal control. After Collecting and studying a large amount of the domestic and foreign materials about traffic signal control, this paper introduce the concept of traffic signal control and key theory about it at first. Then the paper puts forward two high efficiency level intersection signal control algorithms and simulated it through computer, in the end, the paper introduce the traffic control system for area control such as TRANSYT. SCOOT and it's development conditions of future. The result of this study can be regarded as a rational and effective method to solve problem of control of traffic signal of the intersection, the example of Kunming and Jianshui city already prove this, the method have important practical value...
