Along with the development of the national economy, the demand for energy is unprecedentedly increasing. Also, some enterprises and units of power quality now have higher requirements. In order to provide a real assessment of the power quality level, real-time power quality testing is urgently needed,Meanwhile, as the power electronic devices and other non-linear loads are universally used in the power system, heavier power quality pollutions have been caused. Real-time power quality monitoring and analysis provide the necessary basis for facilities management and decision-making bodies to deal with the power quality. Till now, the traditional detection methods are mainly based on SCM for which the efficiency is low and high measurement accuracy is hard to achieve. What's more,it does not have the communication function. An embedded system is some combination of computer hardware and software, either fixed in capability or programmable, that is specifically designed for a particular kind of application device. Industrial machines, automobiles, medical equipment, cameras, household appliances, airplanes, vending machines, and toys (as well as the more obvious cellular phone and PDA) are among the myriad possible hosts of an embedded system. It is gradually becoming the core of the computer technology. With the development of the information technology, embedded systems will become much more widely used in people's life. This paper combines power quality with embedded systems to find an effective and innovative solution to the problem of power quality measurement-which is called power quality measuring equipment based on the embedded system. It's main function is to detect harmonics and voltage dips in the power system. Three steps are taken to achieve the goal : data acquisition of the power system signals, data processing analysis and the results convey. This paper has four parts: Introduction of embedded system design, Basic knowledge of the power quality , hardware design and software design. The background knowledge is introduced in the first two pars:the concepts and components of the embedded systems .especially the replant of Linux to the arm;the principles of harmonics and voltage dips, bad influence on the grid, power quality pollution sourses and fault-detecting algorithm. In this part, the paper strenghthenes single-phase circuit harmonics suppression and reactive current detection algorithm. The latter two portions tells the way to execute the ideas addressed beforehand. The hardware.acquisition circuit uses the filters to eliminate the high order harmonics, thus avoid the overlap of frequency. The A/D conversion is conducted by the self-equipped S3C2410,which simplifies the design. The storage and communication blocks are also added to the system to meet the requirements; In the software, the author considered adquately the delay caused by communication and the resourse distribution of the system.Meanwhile the system is designed into several courses in order to increase the efficiency. The design addressed by this paper has more functions and higher efficiency compared with traditional methods.lt is an ideal method of power quality measurement.
