Turbine starter is a very important composing part for aero-engine, its work capability directly affects the reliability of aero-engine in start. However, WQJ-1 turbine starter equipped in WP-8 aero-engine have occurred four times of malfunction because the tooth circle of fluid force coincidence implement took place rupture during the start process, that has a great effect on the lash-up takeoff of airplane. So an accurate analysis of the strength and the fatigue life for the turbine starter is done, it takes great importance in opening out malfunction theory of the start system, improving reliability of transmission and deciding the reasonable time limit in work.Firstly, in order to truly reflect the output load characteristic of turbine starter, has an experimental test on mechanism characteristic of transmission system of the starter, receives time-varying curve of output speed and output torque, provides load data for analysis on malfunction parts.Secondly, aimed at the transmission system of the turbine starter establishes a time-varying mesh stiffness dynamics model and equation of a two-stage gear train, has a non-linear contact analysis in different mesh places for gear pair using ANSYS software, receives time-varying mesh stiffness of gear pair, calculates dynamic load of malfunction gear based on the output characteristic of experiment.Furthermore, has an elastic-plastic finite element analysis of the tooth circle of fluid force coincidence implement based on the dynamic load, calculates the most stress and strain of the tooth circle with the state that has acted on the maximal load and has the different number of pins. The results show that there is no plastic deformation in tooth circle when equipped six pins. But it begins having plastic deformation with decreasing the number of pins.Finally, based on the dynamic load chart received by kinetics study on gear transmission system of turbine starter, has a statistic on dynamic load, receives the load spectrum by the method of counting range, then selects S-N curve method and Manson-coffin formula respectively for the fatigue damage calculation and life prediction of the tooth circle.
