With the development of the world, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle plays an important role. High Altitude and Long Endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (HALE UAV) is a new kind of UAVs in recent years, they play important and special roles in military and civil affairs. So many countries focus on the development of HALE UAV. Flying-wing HALE UAV has high ratio of lift and drag and low level of detective. However, the exclusive aerodyanamic layout also brings it some disadvantages, for illustration, weak course stability, short longitudinal control arm and low handling efficiency. Based on the primary principle of flight dynamics, the paper studies the flight quality of Tailless Flying-wing HALE UAV and Taill Flying-wing according to traditional calculation methods. According to the analysis, Control-Augmentation System is presented to improve the flight quality. The main points of this paper are stated as follows:(1) According to the traditional calculation methods, this paper studies the flight quality of Tailless Flying-wing HALE UAV and establishes the model of HALE UAV.(2) Based on the theory of flight dynamics, combinig with diversified hypothetic condition, the paper derives the kinetic and dynamic equations of the UAV, and derives its eigen function. This paper analyzes eigenvalue and coefficients of the eigen equation of the flying-wing UAV, and discusses the flight quality of longitudinal and lateral-directional.(3) Confronted with the bad characteristics of the flying-wing, we can augment stability to improve the flight quality of flying-wing, and research the flight-quality of elasticity.(4) According to the analysis of characteristics of tailless and tail flying-wing and normal layout, we can get some conclusions about different layouts.
