Developing City

In China, since the end of Twentieth Century, the development of cities is at a high speed. It is the backdrop of this investigation which take the city space evolvement of Yichun City, Jiangxi P.R. since 60' last century to nowadays as a case study. This study is based on macroscopical and microcosmic view to unscramble the evolvement of city space structure and city space elements: 1) Contrast by each important periods to research and analysis the renewal and expansion of city space situation; 2) Take apart the evolvement of important elements (such as rivers, bridges, roads, squares, etc)and their forms, which close correlative to the space of the city, as well as the city life in city space. In above methods we try to show the factors which affect the evolvement of the city space and how it changed. Meanwhile, summarize the developmental periods of small cities ,find out the advantages & disadvantages of the evolvement of city space then raise the policy of city space development in the futre..
