The sag of the transmission line is one of the important parameters for the line's design, operation and maintenance. The size of the sag will affect the safety and the stability of the line operation. when the safety operation of the system is guaranteed, the research on the relations of the transmission capacity, the temperature changing and the sag of the transmission line is practically significant.Many factors affect the sag of the line. The wire stress and the transmission capacity of the line, the air temperature, the wind and the ice covering the wire and so on are the main factors. The wire stress of the line is a determinant factor, which has already been fully considered when the transmission line was constructed. Here, only the wire stress changing caused by the changing of the line tensity due to the changing of the temperature is considered. Through analyzing the existing techniques and problems of the sag measurement, the paper put forward several new measurement techniques, namely, taking numerical code pictures and using the entire station meter.Based on introducing some concepts of the computation of the line's transmitting capacity, the paper considers some measures to enhance the transmitting capacity, and analyzes the possible economic benefits gained by enhancing the transmitting capacity of the transmission line. At the same time, according to the research on the size of line's sag, the paper takes it into account that enhancing the actually permissible temperature of the line and consequent the line's operating current, namely the normal transmitting capacity. And attains the purpose of enhancing and computing the transmitting capacity using the sag of the line.The mathematical model describing the relations of the transmitting power, the actual operating temperature and the sag of the transmission line is established in the paper. And the model is analyzed using the practically obtained data. Also, the coefficients of the model is obtained using the actual data of the Chuan Xi I line and Shao Huai line in the city of Zhoukou,Henan. The results show that the model is feasible. Finally, for the purpose of judging the line's transmitting power according to the sag of the line, a tentative plan is put forward.In this paper, the research on the relations of the transmitting capacity, the sag and temperature of the transmission lines provides a theoretical guidance and a practical examination for the transmission line's design, maintenance and unusual operation under the heavy load and overload. At the same time, the research provides relevant experiences and criterions for the application and popularization of the thermostable conductors. All of these are useful for us to gain more economic and social benefits.
