Self-anchored suspension bridges are increasingly appreciated by engineers for their aesthetic outlook, low cost and high adaptability. No matter for construction or mechanical properties, it differ from conventional suspension bridge and have their own particularity. Combined with the engineering practice and based on the own particularity of self-anchored suspension bridge, this paper gives the study and discussion about ultimate span length, ultimate capacity, structure parameters, economic and technical parameters of self-anchored suspension bridge. The main research work covers the following aspects:1 .Deflection basal differential equation of self-anchored suspension bridge is deduced through deflection theory .It is drawn that differential equation based on self-anchored suspension deflection theory bridge is equal to that of earth-anchored suspension bridge based on elasticity theory. Thus it can be concluded that self-anchored suspension bridge is more suit to elasticity theory.2.According to stability of stiff girder and materials strength of the main cable and stiff girder, adopt presently staple materials of constructing bridge, study the ultimate span length of steel stiff girder Self-anchored suspension bridges, compare two methods, thus it can be concluded that the stability of stiff girder control the ultimate span length of Self-anchored suspension bridges. Get the ultimate span length of steel stiff girder Self-anchored suspension bridges in the specifically conditions.3.As the san-cha-ji bridge to be the base, study its ultimate capacity, and study stress state of self-anchored suspension bridges system when parameters will to be varied, such as ratio of rise to span,constraint,camber,suspender space length,ratio of side span to mid-span,amount of the main span. The common regularity is obtained.4.Analyse economic and technical parameters of self-anchored suspension bridge, steel weights equation of self-anchored suspension bridge cable rope is deduced, and get the relation with rolled steel allowable stress,main span length and ratio of rise to span, and steel weights is obtained of the san-cha-ji bridge cable rope, it's percentage error is about 4.5%, and study economical efficiency of stiff girder and pylons, and bring forward some economic technical optimization paths and methods of self-anchored suspension bridge.
