Modern vehicle especially the trucks and the construction vehicleswill vibrate seriously when working. Because their suspension system isrelatively worse and the environment of the road they work at is terriblybad. What is worst is that the seat suspension systems of these vehiclesare almost passive suspension. The damping and the stiffness coefficientof the passive suspension can not be adjusted by the change of theenvironment of the road. So its competence of reducing vibration islimited. Thus the drivers of these vehicles are suffering from seriousvibration of the seat which will significantly affect their health.In vehicle seat semi-active suspension system we use the MRdamper to take place of the traditional damper. This research wassponsored by the Ministry of Education. In this dissertation, dynamicalmodel and mathematical model is established for the semi-active system.MATLAB is used for the simulation of the whole mechanical andelectrical system based on optimal control and H∞control theory. Theresults of the simulation show that the vehicle seat suspension systemwith H∞controller can markedly reduce the vertical vibrationacceleration of the seat by 45%~50% and effectively improve thecomfort of driver. The static characteristic of MR damper, one key part ofvehicle seat semi-active suspension,is measured to prepare for testing thewhole system.The major content of this dissertation is as follows:1.The dynamic and mathematical model of the four DOF"Vehicle-Seat-People" system is built.2.An optimal regulaor for the"Vehicle-Seat-People" system isdesigned and simulated with MATLAB.3.A H∞controller for the "Vehicle-Seat-People" system is designedand simulated with MATLAB.4.Based on the research of the simulation, the experiment devices isdesigned and built for MR damper characteristic testing.
