With the living conditions improving, people will have higherdesire in environment and quality of living. But now, the pollutionof building's surface is very severity in our citys, and it affects thebeauty of building, reduces the life of decorating materals andgreatly increases the cost building decoration. Based on searching alot of documents on elimination and prevention of contaminativepowder particles in over the world, much research work both intheory and experiments were conducted. The main research contentsand conclusions are as follows.(1) The authors searched the literatures in the database (EICompendex) with three subject words such as particle, adhesion andremoval and there are more than 100 documents were found. Then,the authors took statistics based on the time of publication anddifferent technology and application fields by analyzing thedocuments. At last, the authors put forward the developingdirections on the technology.(2) The papers analyzed the characteristics and capability ofpreventing particles of primary surface materials that are used inbuilding, and put forward the developing directions. At the sametime, the authors discussed some factors of affecting cleaningpraticles from building surface and the relevant factors.(3) The conglutination mechanism between powder particlesand solid surface from free energy of solid surface and chemistrythermodynamics were discussed. At the same time, the effect factorsand the action forces between particles and solid surface wereanalysied.(4) The distributed behaviour of particles diameter inatmosphere and rain in the testing area from experiments wereinvestigated. The testing results show that the particles diameter isdifferent on different building surface materials, and the primarydistributed range of powder particles on every surface material werealso discovered. The primary factors and means of affecting surface materials were put forward.(5) By using dropping liquid, the paper discussed every factorof affecting coupling between powder particles and surfactants,surfactants' effect, and the surfactants function in preventingparticles from building surface.(6) According to the surfactant characteristics, somesurfactants were chosen to make experiment. Tests indicate that thesurfactants have capability of keeping particles form polluting thebuilding surface. At last, the paper introduces some applicationmeans of surfactants to prevent particles on building surface.
