A sort of ball-valve with control character of identical percentage weredesigned innovatively. And a great amount of numerical simulation ofthree-dimensional turbulent flow under different valve-trim-part position wereperformed on these models. The RNG k-εturbulence model and SIMPLEscheme based on unstructured grid system was adopted in numericalsimulation. The relations between nominal flow coefficient(KVS) and relativevalve opening angle(θ) were obtained by simulating the turbulent flow underdifferent valve opening angle, that is the flow character of the valve. Byanalyzing the numerical simulation results and optimizing the molded line ofvalve-trim-part, we got a sort of control ball-valve, which is constituted bynormal ball valve and valve plate orifice, and the valve have ideal flowcharacter of identical percentage.Aiming to correct the outflow coefficient of valve-trim-part orifice, thenumerical simulation of the three-dimensional turbulent flow was carried out onthe standard pore plate. In experimental investigation, we specially designed a set equipped withhigh sensitive sampled-data system, and also got the relations betweenexperimental nominal flow coefficient(KVS) and relative valve opening(θ).Meanwhile, we also study the flow control character of several product with thesame function on the experimental test-bed.The numerical and experimental results show that: It's feasible to designand optimize the control valve by three-dimensional CFD numerical simulation; Moreover, the new sort of control ball-valve designed based on numericalsimulation and experimental investigation have ideal flow control character andthe character curve of the valve is coincident with the equation of flowcharacter we adopted. This new sort of control valve can be applied to engineering.
