As a branch of high performance concrete(HPC), high performancelightweight aggregate concrete(HPLC) is manufactured by lightweightaggregate and certain methods. At the same time, it is a kind ofenvironment-protected building material with high strength, goodworkability, good volume stability and high durability. High performancelightweight aggregate concrete has great superiorities in the large scaleengineering such as high buildings, bridges and some importantengineering projects, which has complicated geography conditions or aspecial demand for durability.In the paper, based on the study of compositions and their influenceto the performance of HPLC, the relationships among the composition,structure and performance of HPLC are discovered. By the research ofstructure characteristic of HPLC mix, the main factors of the activeproperty of coarse aggregate and an evaluation method of uniformity ofHPLC are determined. In additional, the paper also established anevaluation system of the working performance of HPLC, which includeslump constant, divergence, bleeding rate and the non-uniform level ofcement paste and aggregate. The technique parameters of the uniformityof HPLC are discovered as well.Based on the experimental study on the influence of the compositionof the concrete to the workability, mechanical property and durability ofHPLC, the key technology of the preparation of HPLC was grasped.LC40~LC60 HPLC with the slump over 180mm, 28d drying shrinkagerate, carbonization and the 6 hours coulomb electricity of chloride—ionpenetration below 36×10-5, 10mm and 1000C respectively, the strength todensity ratio over 30MPa·m3/t, elastic modulus larger than 32GPa, goodworkability and uniformity is prepared.Elementarily studied on the mechanical properties, dry density andthe destroy shape of high strength semi lightweight concrete. The authorfound that high strength semi lightweight concrete has many meritswhich can cover the shortages of normal concrete and light concrete. It has a large technical and economic return.
