Magnetorheological (MR) fluid damper is a new kind of smart damper,and possesses widely application prospect in the field of anti-vibration of auto- mobile. Response time is an important characteristic for determining the per- formance of MR dampers in practical civil engineering applications.In this paper, the influence factors upon the response time of the MR dampers are sys- thematically investigated, such as the parameter of construction characteris- itics,MR fuild, flexibility and velocity of the piston.(1) This thesis introduces MR technology and proprieties of MR fluid. Then giving a broad overview of MR devices that are developed and progress report of international and Chinese academe, also signification and task of this paper.(2) In this chapter we found a mathematical model using theory of fluid mechanics.(3) MR dampers have been used in vibration suppression, noise reducing, and great achievement has been obtained.But the behavior of MR dampers on transient response has not been reported by now.This paper mainly carries out a combined structural dimensions and electric parameters on the transient pro- perty of MR dampers.Based on parallel plate flow theory.The various kinds of factors that affect the response time of magnetic current damper has been analyzed in this article.In addition, the response time considering resistance and inductance of exciting circuit influenced on the transient time of MR dampers have been discussed also.The authors also put forward some approaches to optimize the response time, including reducing the clearance between the piston and cylinder as possible as you can, cleaning up the influence of the residual magnetism and so on.(4) Summarize the works and innovations of this paper. Then give prospects of future study.
