In consideration of the present technology level and the actualities of the power grid, maintenance scheduling is still the main tactic in power systems and is playing a decisive role in power system operation and management. With the development of power systems, the structure of the power grid tends to become complicated and the number of equipment gets larger and larger. When we do maintenance scheduling with manpower, problems come forth, such as incomprehensive thoughts, aimlessness, waste of resources and even blackouts. At the demand of Hangzhou Electric Company, this paper accomplishes the design and development of an optimization system for power grid maintenance scheduling. In this practical system, the influence of topological factors on maintenance scheduling is considered and the facilities in a system are incorporated into several maintenance variable sets. This system evaluates the important degree of each maintenance task and can implement maintenance scheduling optimization.Firstly, this paper reviews the evolving process of the maintenance patterns in power systems and illustrates the existing maintenance manner and the current status of maintenance scheduling. Research developments and achievements on maintenance scheduling and its optimization are summarized.Secondly, this paper introduces the overall design of this system. Based on the vision of this system and the research and analysis of the power grid maintenance scheduling business process, this paper introduces the common procedure of maintenance scheduling, analyzes the data exchange between software systems and points out the system's orientation. The structure and functional modules of this system is also designed, as well as the collaborative relationship between the modules.Thirdly, this paper expounds several crucial techniques in the system design and development, such as the developing tool and language, the design of the database backstage, the evaluation method of the maintenance task's important degree, the CIM based topology search method and etc, so as to reveal the characteristics and superiority of this system.Finally, a mathematical model is established for the maintenance scheduling problem. This paper then studies the differential evolution (DE) algorithm and its modifications and applies it to solve the model. Actual results show the operation steps of the algorithm and verify its feasibility and effectiveness.
