Recently with the great developments of large projects like deep-water ports, giant floating crane is badly needed, therefore it is one of focuses in the design of crane that how to design huge floating crane economically or how to improve existing engineering barges. Optimization about the structure of crane jib arm mainly focuses on gantry crane and single-arm crane presently, moreover toward the jib arm structure, the study is still underway. But with the development of economic and continually increasing in the demand of hoisting, it is necessary to strengthen the optimization toward crane jib arm.This thesis mainly aims at the topology optimization of crane jib arm, with the cross section of frame and the topology form of jib arm as design variables, the lowest weight as the optimization goal, rules about stress, intension and stabilization as restrict, using the hybrid optimization algorithm to optimize crane jib arm. For the first time the topology optimization of jib arm is putted forward, and Matlab process is used. This paper improves the particle swarm optimization, and gains hybrid optimization algorithm combined with differential evolution, and tries hard to avoid the problem of local optimum. This subject programs hybrid optimization algorithm using Matlab, and bring in finite element program as a fitness function. Due to various restrictions, some of them only expressed in explicit formulations are given as penalty functions, and the others are checked in the process.It provides a new method in the design of framework for the future, and effectively improves the traditional optimization method which is checked correctly. It has definite apply value in practice and research value.
