Along with overhaul and maintenance of railway track, the horizontal resistance and the overall stability of the roadbed can be improved significantly through the application of Dynamic Track Stabilizer (WD320), and eventually the slowdown time of train could be eliminated. However, during work, the computer control system of WD320 is the low reliability. The problems of the computer control system which have affected the designed functions of WD320.According to the working characteristics of WD320, the working principle and computer control system have been analyzed and studied in this thesis, and then find the reason of the computer control system's low reliability. Based on the comparing and analyzing among of the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Relay Control System and computer control system, decided to adopt the MPI network structure which fomed by the PLC and Human-machine interface(HMI) to composed the automatic control system of WD320. The electronic control system of WD320 has been improved significantly by replacing the original control mode in which both the upper level and lower level computers are involved with the PLC. With STEP7 software, the PLC control system have been finished the hardware configuration and designed the input-output of the digitals and analogs. Then identified the means of communication which of the HMI and PLC. The control procedures of PLC1 and PLC2 were designed with Ladder diagram language. After the control procedures have been finished, the procedures would been simulated with the S7-PLCSIM in the computer, and then for rhe debugger after the PLC system installed.This retrofit has helped in solving the problem of low reliability and the resulted poor working quality. At the same time, the working capability in a tough working environment, such as wide temperature range and vibration impact, has been made possible. It is the first time in our country to apply the PLC as the core of electronic control system of the HRMM which is manufactured from the imported technology. And also, it is a useful attempt for Localization of the Heavy Railway Maintenance Machinery(HRMM).
