Stepping motor has been widely used in industry and consumer electronic because of its low cost and simple control. With the continuing development of power electronics and devices, the hybrid stepping motor becomes more popular, for it contains the merits of permanent magnetic one and reactive one, such as high speed rotation, smooth operation, and precise location. Therefore, it is very important and meaningful to research and design the hybrid stepping motor in theory and application.This paper introduces the feature, development of domestic and overseas stepping motor and its 3-phase driven system, presents the static and dynamic control model about its position as well as the target current control strategy by means of the vector control principle in d-q axis, and design two wholly solution projects of the stepping motor driver control system and successfully developed the low cost, reliable driver system prototype using the microcontroller. This prototype realizes the signal shaping and signal sample from the upper system, the hardware PWM driver control of current close loop feedback, and the fault protection and recording. All these can make the driver system reach the target of multistep function and high speed control; at the same time, a new revolutionary project is put forward: integrating the upper system resource and driver system resource to become a compound system using the high performance DSP, which simplifies the complication of systematic hardware structure, makes the system cost decrease and it can be the solid foundation for the future research.In this paper, the hardware design part includes the current reference circuit, signal processing circuit, controller circuit, motor driver circuit, fault detection and protection circuit. The software design part is focusing on the system modular design; introduce the whole software flow including the bottom driver, application and algorithm. What's more, the embedded operation system on DSP and the related API are introduced. At the actual testing experiments, many tough questions are solved, such as EMC problem, high precise signal sampling problem, huge power design in driver circuit and the parameter matching, and reliability problem on software and hardware. The security design is divided into several safety levels. The result of the platform experiments indicate: the driver systems based on microcontroller and DSP can work normally below the 300KHz input signal and locate more precisely, these mean the prototypes are feasible, realizes the target functions, meets the technical requirement of CNC machine and gives the develop direction of stepping motor driver control system.
