The eco-human environment development in the delta area of China's Yangtze River must consider the protection of the regional ecological system, the regional urban development and the ecological friendly architecture and landscape in that region. The study of eco-human environment development is a complex systematic study requiring inter displanary researches on multiple areas.Yangtze delta area is the fastest developing area in China with the highest urbanizatin rate. The area has been developed around its abundant water resources. However, the q- uality of the development in terms of the ecological consideration was largely ignored duri- ng the large urbanization effort during the fast economy development in the past decades. This study focuses on the research of the landscape pattern development and the related o- ptimization model of the pattern in the area with small river system with the consideration of the ecological human environment concept. We analyzed the NingBao Houdang River area using above model and discussed the ecological-friendly architecture, water protection and urbane development guideline for this particular region. This paper outlined the current urbane space layout of the city of Ningbao and the cha- racteristic of the layout, The issues and potential impact of such layout to the regional eco- logical systems were also discussed. Based upon above discuss the research framework a- nd goal were clearly established with the research significance. Then the theory and impimplementation of landscape ecology in urbane ecological plan was explained with case studies involving urbane development practices in small river system areas in and outside China to support that the goal of the ecological human environment plan in urbane development in small river system areas is to systematically balance the need of urbane development with the consideration of water resources protection and utilization to established a long-term sustainable development model in such areas. On-side data survey, literature study and the application of geographical information system were used in the data collection and data analysis of the impact and the relationship between urbane development, ecosystem evolvement and landscape change in the research areas. Based upon the study an eco-human environment development guideline was presented.
