The vibration problem was very important in the field of mechanical engineering. The trend of increasing rotating speed in modern machinery made the vibration problem becoming more and more prominent, which influencing directly the efficiency and reliability of the machinery. The vibration meant dangerous, especial for the high speed rotating machinery.If there were mobile things in rotating machinery, their position would be affected by the physic of the rotor. The change of their position also affected the vibration. The swing would be increased or decreased as the result. This phenomenon was called "self-synchronization". In this paper the research on the ball-filled rotor had been done by the theory and experiment.The main work of this paper was shown as follows:1. The characteristics of the unbalanced rotor were recounted. The motion equations of the ball-filled rotor were deduced by using Lagrange's equation, and the mathematical model of the equipment was built.2. The method of simulation was presented by the application of the numerical value analyzing software MATLAB. The mathematical model of the laboratory equipment was solved by the Runge-Kutta arithmetic. By simulation the phenomenon of self-synchronization is analyzed. The law of force and motion, the modifying factors and the final position of the balls were researched.3. Experiments were performed on a ball-filled rotor which mounted on a single-freedom vibration system. The signals could be collected by the measurement and test system, whose software was programmed by Visual Basic 6.0. The result revealed the self-synchronization phenomenon of the ball-filled rotor. The final position of the balls was observed by using the frequency modulation glary instrument.4. The application of self-synchronization theory in machinery production was proposed according to the fluid coupling of YOTsj, and the scheme of the application of the automatic ball balancer was put forward.Whether theoretically or practically, the theory and technology in application of self-synchronization phenomenon were very important for vibration problem, in free from the trouble of work condition, likewise in keeping operationally automatic balance.
