The control of transformer noise and vibration is divided into two parts, vibration control and noise control. The former is no longer the focus while dealing sound and vibration problems, and is easier to deal with than the latter, because both of the theories and engineering researches of vibration are mature. At the same time, there are lots of defaults in the theories of noise control and many difficulties in applying low-frequency noise control in practice, which lead to the difficulty of solving the problem of low frequency noise of dry-type transformers.In this paper, based on the previous researches of dry-type transformers at home and abroad and the actual situation of Kunming SGM Electric Company, the development of dry-type transformers acoustic enclosures is raised in order to solve the problem of transformer noise. Since the result of experimental analysis in the laboratory is coincident with the data of theoretical numerical simulation on computer, the dry-type transformers acoustic enclosures muffler is successfully designed to be used in projects. What is more, the object of reducing low frequency noise is also achieved as supposed with low cost and existing technology, while ensuing the cooling and ventilation of transformer.After the exploration of studies on the noise elimination mechanism of Cavity Expansion Silencer,maze-type mufflers and micro-perforated panel muffler, according to the principle of absorptive maze-type mufflers and reactive mufflers,unconventional mufflers , which base on computer numerical simulation and experments , has been designed to be used on noise insulation enclosure of dry-type transformers so that The average noise pressure level of dry-type transformers have decreased from 73dB (A) to 45dB (A) when the dry-type transformer enclosureed with the noise insulation enclosure.
