With rapid development of computer technologies, GIS (Geographic Information System) is playing more functions in fields of wide range, for instance, land utilization, resources management, environmental inspection, traffic & transportation, urban planning, economic development, military and governmental administration, etc.. As the most pioneering high-tech in modern society, GPS (Global Positioning System) has significant advantages in global navigational positioning, timing, velocity measuring and will finds more and more extensive use in different fields inevitably, for example communication & transportation and traffic engineering. Combination of GIS and GPS technologies gives an impetus to utilization of GIS in military fields.Navigation positioning of aircraft plays a more and more important role in modern war. Not only the commander must know the exact position of the aircraft, but also the pilot needs to know his position at all time to improve aviation safety by effectively avoiding yawing or straying. Therefore Aircraft Flying Management System is developed to realize fast display of the aircraft position information on digital map.Aircraft Flying Management System is developed with GIS component (Mapx) technology and visual development tool Visual C++. Major works done during the development are as follows:1,Use Mapx to realize control of map in Mapinfo format, including digital map scaling up and down, panning, selecting, etc.2,Study the methods of receiving of GPS positioning coordinates information from aircraft.3,Study extracting and transferring of GPS positioning coordinates data and set up animation layer to display the data on digital Mapinfo map correctly and in time.4,Deeply study diikstra algorithm and realize shortest flight route inquiry.5,Study realization of hawk-eye drawing for aircraft navigation.6,Realize printout of digital aviation map.Simulation experiments show that aircraft Flying Management System is capable of fast display of flying track of aircraft and fulfill basic system functions. The system is easy in operation and clear and concise in interfaces and can fast display flying track of aircraft and satisfies aircraft navigation and positioning requirement to improve aviation safety.
