This paper does main research in control strategy, assist power characteristic, control algorithm, hardware integrated circuit, software control program of electronic power steering(EPS) based on EPS control system of the last generation, brings forward the hardware and software optimization plans, and at last give the assessment of the performance based on the testing. Concretely including as follows: using B cluster curve to optimize the power assist characteristics of the EPS, using the initiative returning and damping control strategy to optimize the returning characteristics; making comprehensive analysis to each module of the integrated circuit including power supply, filtering, amplifying, process control, power amplifying, bridge drive etc., matching to the whole circuit with higher performance-price ratio control modules to reduce the power cost into the lowest level, using the fuzzy PID arithmetic to optimize the traditional PID arithmetic, and writing the program based on the optimized control strategy and algorithm; in the end testing the system on the lab table, judge the optimized plan. The testing results show that the optimized plan completely meets the performance index.
