In Strengthening methods, steel mesh strengthening reinforced defective concrete beam is proved to be a new effective reinforced method not only by the similarity of material behavior to objects strengthened, but also its endurance and easy installing. The mechanics and effect of the new strengthening method with test and Finite Element Method had been observed, which is supposed to offer a guide for technology and become valuable in theory and practice. In this article, the fields and aspects of investigation are as following1) Stress analysis of the steel bar in steel mesh strengthening reinforced concrete beam was performed. On the basis of the results, the mechanism of steel mesh strengthening reinforced concrete beam was investigated. Moreover, typical steel mesh structure was presented.2) The concrete beam damage mechanism was researched and the damage computing model was analyzed. Willam-Warnke five-parameter model simulating concrete beam, ideal elastic plastic model and linear strengthened model simulating steel mesh are used to establish the rational numerical simulation model. This model can be fully used to carry out the numerical simulation test of strengthened members, to reconstruct the bearing process and properties and to trace the cracking occurrence and propagation of cracks and the final destructive morphology. Accordingly; it is one of the effective methods to recognize the strengthening mechanism and effectiveness of strengthened members.3) Many new methods of steel mesh strengthening reinforced concrete beam in engineer application were presented, factor influencing steel mesh strengthening and strengthening mechanism of steel mesh was analyzed. Based on these analyses, a steel mesh strengthening improvement plan was made.
