Strengthening ring joint of steel beam and steel pipe column is a new form of rigid connection joint used at the high-raise and super-high-rise building steel structure, the connections have many advantages: simple and clear force transferring path, high rigidity, high bearing capacity, and can realize the design principles such as, " strong column, weak beam and stronger joint" . Its excellent mechanical properties and convenient construction in the connection of steel beam and steel pipe column is a better comprehensive performance joint. During the practical constriction, in order to meet the requirement of strength and rigidness and the affection caused by extra welding stress, so there are uneven stress concentration, distribution and decrease seismic behavior during the joint region. Therefore, the research of the performance of mechanical properties such as stress distribution, stress concentration and seismic behavior of the strengthening ring joint of steel beam and steel pipe column is particularly important.This paper has discussed the application background and the research status of the strengthening ring joint, through the establishment of the finite element model about the mechanical properties of strengthening ring joint which used in beams connection in the Qingdao Development Zone International Trade Center to analyze the finite element numerical; this paper also has researched about the mechanical properties of stiffening ring joint of ring style and arc-transition style under the load effect. It focused on the mechanical properties of the two joints includes stress distribution forms, destructive characteristics and a preliminary evaluation about the seismic performance of joints. Through the comparative analysis about the mechanical properties of the two strengthening ring joints, it has provided a reference for the selection about the engineering design of beam-column stiffening ring joint.This paper has researched about the mechanical properties of the arc-transition strengthening ring joint of different thickness; through the research it has achieved the effect relationship between the changed thickness of the ring board and the stress distribution and seismic performance of the joints. This paper also has researched about the mechanical properties of the arc-transition stiffening ring joint of different radius; through this research it has achieved the effect relationship between the changed radiuses and the stress distribution and seismic performance of the joints.The results of this paper can provide a theoretical analysis basis for the engineering application of the beam-column strengthening ring joint on the high-rise and super-high-rise construction in our country.
