Development of city is progress of human civilization's symbol. However, with the rapid development of urbanization, the irrational utilization of urban geological environment and unreasonabale development of geological resources are increasingly outstanding. It influences and restricts urban construction and development directly. In the process of city reconstruction, how to use the precious urban land resources scientifically and reasonably on the premise that the deterioration of environment won't be deteriorated has become an urgent problem to the cities. Therefore, the suitability investigation and study on geological environment of urban construction land is imperative.Taking Yan Tai City as example, this paper divides the evaluation area into 255 cell-grids of 2km×2km, Statistics the evaluation factor of every cell-grid, using the fuzzy mathematics judgement method for one-stage judgment and the expert gathers for two-stage judgment, and calculates via computer programming, then automatic mapping with the MAPGIS. According to the geological suitability evaluation results of various urban construction land, research area of Yantai City has carried on geological environment function regionalization, in proper order, partition is"suitable area of urban comprehensive developmental land, comparatively suitable area of urban comprehensive developmental land, medium suitable area of urban comprehensive developmental land, not comparatively suitable area of urban comprehensive developmental land and not suitable area of urban comprehensive developmental land".The feasibility analysis of urban master planning is also carried on. The paper provides reference for the future development direction of Yan Tai City.
