The application of Mass Customization (MC) comes into being competitive advantage for enterprise since 1990's. This production model not only could be satisfied with the individual needs of customer, but also keep product with the low cost and the short delivery time at same time. MC caters for trend of needs in market. Now many enterprises in society are paying attention to it widely because of its advantage. So paper chooses the study on development and design of product family for MC.First, it makes the outline description of the Product family design for mass customization and points out the inevitability and the superiority of the production pattern appeared, then it analyses the domestic and foreign situation and points out the main content and method of this article. In chapter second, it analyses basic principle and brace technology of the Product family design for mass customization, then explains importance of the product design.Second, customer demand is variety and the important nowadays, it analyses the collection of customer demand information and describes information conversion process based on the QFD. It pays attention to the reliability and enables the product to satisfy customer fully.Third, the technology of product family modeling is researched in detail. At first, through analyzing existing product family models, the target and principles which a good product family model should satisfy are proposed. Then product family architecture,the multi-view of product family model and the principle of derivate are researched . The structure model of product family which can derive by itself is researched. In the end a motorcycle product family modeling case is given to prove the method feasibility.To evaluate scheme of Product Family Design for Mass Customization, a new model of superior scheme selection was presented and the solution to the model was also carried on. According to clingy degree between design scheme and ideal fuzzy solution selecting superior scheme, thus it could evaluate design scheme and enhance customer satisfaction.At last, to provide customers with an ideal customized products by rationally carrying out the method of product family design for customer requirement, which has become an effective method to enhance customer satisfaction. According to customer requirements, it has established ideal model of product family design from the customer perspective. Using Quality Function Deployment to transform customer requirements information (including weight of customer requirements and fuzzy indicators of customer requirements) to product function characteristics indicators (including weight of the function characteristics and fuzzy metric indicators of function characteristics), which would achieve quantization of customer requirements and choice of specific configuration modules.
