The ultrasonic motor (USM) is a new type motor that has been developed in recent twenty years, It is different from traditional electromagnetic motors in principle. Ultrasonic vibration is excited by the conversely piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric materials and magnified by the elastic body. With the frication coupling, The rotation of the rotor or moving of the slider is generated , Low speed,high torque,simple structure,no electromagnetic and high holding torque when power is off ,characterize ultrasonic motor. All of these characters make ultrasonic motor promising in some special application areas in micro mechanism, robots, precise instrument , spacecraft and automobile.The dissertation mainly studies the cylinder stator traveling-wave ultrasonic motor using bending mode(RTWUSM), On the base of reading and analyzing mass of reference, analyzing its driving principle and using FEM, setting up the mathematic model, utilizing the theoretical derivation and finite element analysis in determine the design proposal and parameter, designs the sample of RTWUSM and make experimental analysis. The major contents are summarized as follows:1. The history, the advantages and applications, its classification of ultrasonic motor are reviewed. The present research on the RTUSM and its applications are summarized. The operating principle, structures, performance and characteristics of the RTWUSM developed both at home and abroad are introduced in detail.2. The basic theories related to RTWUSM are presented, such as the piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramic and the bending vibration theory of girder, as a result creating the math-model of RTWUSM. Because the ellipse traveling is the key of the motor running, we analyzed the form of ellipse which is essential to the driving of USM.3. The designed and fabricated RTWUSM made a discussed detailed discussion. From the stator of RTWUSM, confirmed the designed parameter and made optimum design by ANSYS. Consequently, designed the sample of TRWUSM.4. Designed the LC resonant booster circuit about the LC resonant, discuss the operating principle , the circle of characteristic and the dynamic analysis of output signal.5. We tested and discussed some key parameters that influence the performing characteristic of RTWUSM through experiment and drew the performance curve about pumping frequency-speed, slaving voltage–speed and beforehand pressure-speed.
