Traffic problem has already becomes to a serious problem of the society. Researching of the traffic flow is the key of resolving the problem. With the development of Cellular Automata, the traffic flow model based on cellular automata has been great developed.This article first introduced the cellular automata theory elementary knowledge, has understood the cellular automata history through the cellular automata production and the development; Afterwards has given the cellular automata physics and mathematics concept and the definition, theoretically has known the cellular automaton; Finally, introduced the cellular automaton constitution, the characteristic as well as the classification and the application, should serve as the detailed narration especially to the cellular automata theory in the transportation aspect.Then, the article introduced the transportation flows the theory the elementary knowledge: The 20th century 30's initiated the stage after the World War II latter at the end of 50's fast development phase and 1959 with steady steps development phase. Afterwards, introduced the transportation flows the theory the classification, the main research content and the trend of development.After had understood the cellular automaton and the transportation flow the theory some elementary knowledge, the article afterwards was detailed introduced flowed the model based on the cellular automaton transportation. And flows the transportation CA model to divide into the one-dimensional transportation CA model and the two-dimensional transportation CA model to introduce separately.In the one-dimensional model, first introduced the classics transportation flows the model—NaSch model, and had understood flows the model take this as the foundation improvement transportation, like the constant speed control model, starts the model slowly, considered involves the front vehicle speed the model and so on. This paper is based on NS model, modified the acceleration and deceleration rules and add a parameterα, the random parameterαis concerned with the judgment of the current vehicle driver. We called it safe distance parameter.αv_f (t) denote the current driver judged a safe distance added to thegap, avoid to crush with ahead vehicle, make it can accelerate as soon as possible or decelerate few.In the two-dimensional model, introduced the BML model and other model based on BML model.The article is final, has carried on the summary to the full text prime task, and flows the model to the cellular automaton transportation the development to propose the forecast. As a solution transportation question powerful tool, flows the model to the cellular automaton transportation the research also to have many work to have to do: First, must establish the more comprehensive model system; Next, must strengthen the transportation to flow the CA model and the artificial intelligence technology and the parallel computation technology union; Finally, but also must strengthen the transportation to flow the CA model the application. The transportation flows the CA model rule to be simple, the computation speed is quick, flows the characteristic aspect in the description transportation to have the unique superiority, it will certainly to be able to have the extremely broad prospects for development.
