With fast and continuous development of economy and urbanization in China, it will arise a lot of demand for urban transportation in the coming several decades. So, urban rail transit system receives more and more attention and will be widely used. However, a new linear motor driven urban rail transit system, which is featured by more rapidity and comfort, more safety and reliability, economical and rational, green and environmental orientation, will have good developing foreground in the 21st century .The success of Guangzhou subway line four, which adopt the linear motor driving technology, show its greater excellence and promising future in china. At the same time, the localization of linear motor driven urban rail system is of great importance to our Chinese researchers.This project is sponsored by Shanghai Nanyang Electrical Motor Company and accomplished by college of electrical engineering of Zhejiang University. This paper is focused on the traction power supply system in linear motor driven urban rail system . Then, design a traction power system for this Nanyang experiment line. The central research works are below:(1)Does an introduction on linear motor driven urban rail transmit. Then, based on the analyses of the main function units of normal urban rail transmit traction power supply system, acquire the specialty of the traction power supply system in linear motor driven rail transmit system.(2)Research on the external power supply modes and interior traction power supply modes in DC traction power supply system; make deep comparisons between DC750V and DC1500V for voltage mode, also between overhead contact line and third rail for current-collection mode in power supply system. Finally, illustrate some suggestions when different city choose their traction power supply modes in urban rail transmit.(3)Briefly summarize the functions of the Nanyang experiment line. According the requirement and real condition of the line, design a traction power supply system based on DC generator, then design the switched exciting power supply for the DC generator and protection circuit to avoid over-voltage and short circuit. The result of the united debugging for the experiment line shows that this power supply system could meet the demands of the experiment line well.
