With fast and continuous development of economy in China, it will arise a lot of demand for fast transportation in the coming several decades. Maglev transportation system has many advantages such as high speed, quick start, low energy-use, little environment affect and so on. Now it attracts researchers' interest at home and abroad. China with a vast territory and a large population, has a potential long-distance passenger transport market. It provides the high-speed maglev transportation system a developmental space. The success of maglev train system in Shanghai let Chinese people experience its high speed and comfort comparing to railway system and we believe it has a promising future in China. At the same time, the localization of maglev train system is of great importance to our Chinese researchers.This project is sponsored by Zhejiang Wolong holding company and accomplished by college of electrical engineerign of Zhejiang University. Based on the Shanghai Maglev Demonstration Line,the paper is focused on the tration power supply system.Traction technology is a key technology in the maglev transportation system. It powers maglev train system. Based on the project ,the thesis analyses the motor magnetic field with FEM(finite element method) and design the control system for the maglev train. The central research works are below:(1)Do a deep research on long-stator linear synchronous motor for Wolong maglev experimental line. Analyses the motor magnetic field with FEM.(2)Illustrate basic principles of universal inverter, introduce debugging methods and procedures of its main parameters and list problems frequently met during debugging and the solutions for the problems are also given. Finally, an example is given to help understand the use of universal inverter.(3)The design of traction power supply system for maglev train. Also a single master PROFIBUS communication system is also designed to make up automation system.
