Line-Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (LS-PMSM) have a rotor cage for induction starting and permanent magnets , providing magnet flux and synchronous torque. The motor operates as a synchronous machine and the rotor joule losses are significantly reduced. It is possible to achieve unity-power-factor performance, thereby reducing the stator currents and the corresponding losses. Therefore, compared with induction machine, LS-PMSM has advantages of high efficiency and power-factor. Nowadays the world run short of energy, LS-PMSM has a good future.This thesis aims at design a 250kw LS-PMSM, which is used to drive the fan, pump in order to replace the same capability squirrel-cage induction motor. The equivalent magnetic circuit method and the Finite Element Analysis method (FEA) are combined to achieve the design target and on the base of the squirrel-cage induction motor the design scheme is fixed. The scheme is proved through analysis of the motor performance by FEA simulation. |
