Xi'an City Crossing Development

Aim: At present, Xi'an has become the traffic hub through the east-west. Xi'an-centered of Guanzhong urban agglomeration and Xi'an metropolis is the leading area and new economic growth pole of industry and social development of Western Region in China. Under the influence of exterior regional economies and traffic, the urban development of Xi'an needs more regional space of city. However, Qinling Mountain obstructs the southerly enlargement of city region, it goes against the widening of city region because there are a lot of historical sites and artifacts which protected by government. Although there is the Wei River obstructs the north of Xi'an, Wei River water, both in the runoff and the stability of main riverway are changed less over the past 20 years, and the north bank of the Wei River has a good basis for regional development, such as the open terrain, developed agriculture, large population, a good foundation and the effect of the new Administration Center. Therefore, this paper will analyse the feasibility of the enlargement from the point of view of northward Wei River-crossing develop of Xi'an city region, and discuss the way of optimize the city structure by riverside, harmonize the industrial layout, balance urban and rural development and construct city life ecotypically. Method: First of all, I have the field trip and explore the key area, then according to many references and government documents and discuss by the Qualitative Analysis and Quantitative Analysis for conceiving the traffic, industry convergence, etc. in the research area. Result: It will be seen that the development of Wei River-crossing in Xi'an city region will drive the course of the industrialization, urbanization, and the optimization of the traffic in the city by riverside from the analytic demonstration. For ecological construction and city communal space construction need to do planning layout, and it should make the best of advantages of a late comer of the city construction, preserve the valuable natural character, and bring out the best in the new-style modernization construction. Conclusion: The development of Wei River-crossing in Xi'an city region is the approach to advance the city construction and find the composite development,should pay attention to combine with disaster prevention and ecological conservation. And we also find the problem in the river-crossing economic threshold, bridge and channels,etc. which need us to study more.
