Dynamic characteristics of turbine-generator foundation plays a vital role to the normal operation of the unit .Concerning the first self-designed 660MW level unit of the Siemens type, its structure type of foundation, cross-section size of beam-column and other aspects are different from the previous. Any change in structure type may cause changes of structural vibration characteristics, so it is necessary to adopt the model vibration experiment in dynamic characteristics of the foundation to conduct in-depth research.The vibration model experiment was developed for the 600MW large-size turbine-generator unit frame foundation. A 1/10 scale framed foundation model was built in the experiment and dynamic characteristic of the foundation model was acquired. On the basis of it, the amplitude of vibration was predicted by the modal analysis software in the turbine-generator course of the work in start-up and stable phase and a series of forced vibration response data, curves, etc were acquired. As the power plant equipment was designed based on machine type of Siemens, the required results of modal analysis should meet not only our nation's Code for Design of Dynamic Machine Foundation, but also the DIN4024 standard of Siemens. Through the forecast, the results were pleased and some suggestions were given to the vibration weakness.The dynamic characteristics of the turbine-generator foundation was also computed and analyzed in this paper. The foreign program for structural design GTSTRUDL and finite element program ANSYS were adopted to compute the dynamic characteristics of the foundation and the forced vibration response to the disturbing force. The calculating results of the corresponding natural frequencies of the structure were larger than the test results, the amplitude-frequency curves of the disturbing force point were similar with the experimental curves.The paper also examined the damping and noise reduction effects of a new material constrained damping concrete plate, concerning the vibration weakness question to the second layer platform. A 2m×4m true contrast test on the vibration was carried on under the same condition to the ordinary concrete plate and the constrained damping concrete plate, and the result indicates: Due to the different frequency and vibration mode shapes, the effect of the constrained damping concrete plate shows different, the damping layer also has certain degree of noise reduction effect. Put forward the need for further research.According to the German DIN standards relating to the design of turbine-generator foundation, it requires flexible connection between the second layer platform and columns to reduce the vibration of the second layer platform. Therefore the structural overall numerical model was computed by the combined form of spring vibration isolation and the damping plate in this paper to analyze the damping effect on the foundation.
