The university student activity center, honored as the second classroom, is one key-building of type which is built to adapt the development of universities in China, served for the auxiliary education, career guidance to meet students' daily intercommoned communications and activities. The research is based on the investigation of student activity center in Xi'an, carries more in-depth study on the theory and design principles of "Actual effectiveness", and moreover refers to the focal point of designed principles, criteria evaluations and final strategies of this campus category.There are five mian partial contents:The author cuts into the research object and content directly, analyses development and changes characteristics of the object of study, expatiates the research background, definition and scope, introduces the theoretical foundation, necessity and methodologies of the study as well. And then, takes empiricism and the positivism method as a foundation, urgent situation of actual effectiveness of the activity center is advised, which is based on the research investigates of practical projects in Xi'an, and carried out field surveys and interview questionnaires. In the meantime, recurs to predecessors' literature researchs, through longitudinal and crosswise Contrastive analysis, it is the actual effectiveness study of university student activity center's in planning layout and architectural space, including impact the construction of activity center, planning strategies, organization pattern ideas and the basic function, space organization, relation with external environment, architectural modeling. Issues questions need to be paid attention on design of university student activity center building and specific solutions as well. Finally, the development trends of student activity center are proposed. The most realistic value of the whole research is quantitative study of main economic and technical parameters, the author focuses on refining the potential formulas of average area parameter for the essential functional space, intercommoned space allocated rate, plan utilization rate, theater seating rate and so on. With quantitative statistics and qualitive investigations approach, the author analyses the factors which impact the actual effectiveness indirectly, provides evaluations and reference basis for the design of university student activity center and revision of relative architectural codes.The conclusion of the research proposes actual effectiveness design strategies for present ordinary university student activity center in China and prospects of the research domain as well.
