Power is the most crucial factor of the tactical and technical performance of the armor piercing projectile. A bran-new configuration of telescopic penetrator is presented, which bases on the overseas and internal research results on the novel penetrator. The telescopic penetrator can attain more strong power and avoid the disadvantage as a result of the structure of high length to diameter ratio.Designing the new configuration of telescopic penetrator, which using the methods of theoretic analysis mode and numerical simulation and experiment studies in this article, and constituting the finite element model of the penetrator, The numerical simulation of the penetrator's power of different inner and outer diameter ratios is performed in the velocity of the general cannon, presenting the best ratio of inner and outer diameter is between 0.55 and 0.65 , which demonstrate that the depth of penetration of this telescopic penetrator's is 31.1 percent better than the baseline rod penetrator's. All these theoretic basis and technology support, which can be available in designing and optimizing the configuration extended projectile. The major study context in this paper includes these:A) Researching the mechanism of long tube and long rode penetrating into semi-infinite homogeneous target.B) Base on the numerical simulation and experiment studies of the telescopic penetrator penetrating into finite homogeneous target, the results show that the telescopic penetrator's depth of penetration is superior to the baseline rod.C) Base on the numerical simulation and experiment studies of the telescopic penetrator oblique penetrating into semi-infinite homogeneous target, validated its bigger gain of depth of penetration, its structure is strong enough content its launch strength.
