| Recently, tractor-semi trailer becomes more and more important as the main mode of haulage. There are questions of running safety and handling and stability at the same time. The lateral stability of tractor-semi trailer is related to the safety of vehicle and the smooth of the whole traffic. It has academic meaning and practical value to study the lateral stability and maneuverability of the vehicle, because it can enhance the active safety.Based on the analysis of international scholar and technologist's research, with the theory of dynamics and the virtual prototype technology, the mathematical modal of handling and stability of the tractor-semi trailer was established and the steering trait was analyzed. Using the ADAMS simulation software, the paper establishes the tractor-semi trailer's virtual prototype which has 21 degrees of freedom. The relation curves of the relative parameters and the time made when the tractor-semi trailer runs in a curve under ultimate condition are analyzed with the virtual prototype. At the same time the causes of the ultimate case are researched.With the uniform design method which is one of the up-to-date mathematical statistics methods, influence of tractor-semi trailer's structural and motorial parameters on lateral stability was quantitatively analyzed and the parameters of the tractor-semi trailer were optimized. Six structural and motorial parameters which have important influence on lateral stability were chosed and eleven levels were setted for each parameter. With the combination of different levels the different amplitudes was got and the uniform design method was used to optimize the six parameters to get the best amplitude. The main parameters relative with lateral stability were made sure of. So the parameters the tractor-semi trailer should adopt were established and its lateral stability was improved. |
