China's ancient architecture, which inherited and carried forward China's 5000-year history and culture, plays an important role in Chinese civilization. It also carries a significant value upon Chinese history, art, and science. However, most of the ancient architectures have been damaged due to nature or man-made reasons after such a long history, displaying the damages to structures and figurations at varying levels; what's worse, these ancient architectures is possible to be destroyed and vanished finally for these structural adverse factors. How to carry on the maintenance and reinforcement of the ancient architecture without changing the original condition then becomes an urgent problem to be solved.Taking the example of the reinforcing and lifting of the Green shadow walls of Xiang Palace in XiangFAN, this article makes a systematic research on the architecture's inclined settlement, settlement calculation, theoretical calculation of the jack-up rectification, the monitoring system of in structure reinforcement process, the results can be applied into practical use for the lifting and reinforcing of ancient architectures. The article first analyzes the current situation in this Palace and make a detailed calculation according to the inclined settlement theory, then make a comparison between the calculation and the actual measurement, analyze the most adverse factor for inclined settlement, confirming the correctness of this theory through practical conduction. In the meantime, this article proposes an practical engineering plan for the jack-up rectifying, box girder forward and beam fixed; then make a careful and detailed comparison between the two methods. After the beam fixed engineering plan, this article uses the theory of capacity calculation and the software of structure finite element analysis ANSYS to conduct the calculation of lifting system capacity, guaranteeing the safety. To make sure a smooth progress of the engineering work, this article finally makes a calculation about the safety and stableness of this lifting systems and proposes lifting and load control curve theory.The research results in this paper provide a realistic and feasible maintenance and reinforcement method for ancient architecture, which is in an unstable state because of the unevenness of the ground foundation. Fundamentally it helps to eliminate the adverse factors for the damaged ancient architectures, contributing to the social and economic benefits.
