An elastohydrodynamic lubrication model for emulsion lubrication plastic bearing is constructed. With the multigrid technique, a complete numerical isothermal solution of the model is obtained. Furthermore considering the inertial force and thermal effect, a factual EHL model solution is gotten. Then considering the asperities and time-dependent effect basing on considering the inertial force and thermal effect, a more factual EHL model solution is obtained. The comparison between emulsion , oil and water lubrication is made. Variations of the emulsion film thickness, the pressure and the temperature distribution with different parameters are discussed. In addition, the result of the infinite EHL line contact problem with inertial force of rubber-steel, ceramic-steel and babbit metal-steel rubbing pair is analyzed. The effects of the wavelength of the asperities, the velocity and the load on the pressure and the film thickness were discussed. The EHL analysis reveals that, it is easy to form part hydrodynamic film for emulsion-lubricated plastic-steel rubbing pair without considering plastic's viscoelasticity. The inertial force has tiny effect on the emulsion pressure distribution, and it has huge effect on the emulsion film thickness and the temperature distribution. The variations of load and velocity can lead the pressure and the film thickness to change drastically. It is easy to form hydrodynamic film for oil-lubricated steel-steel rubbing pair compared with emulsion-lubricated as well as it is easy to form hydrodynamic film for emulsion-lubricated plastic-steel rubbing pair compared with water-lubricated. At the same load and velocity, the effect of inertial force on the pressure is minute for rubber-steel , ceramic-steel and babbit metal-steel rubbing pair, but the effect on the temperature is very great. The effect on the film thickness is great for ceramic-steel and babbit metal-steel rubbing pair while it is minute for rubber-steel. The existence of the asperities will cause the local pressure peak, it reduces the film thickness, All of variations of the wavelength of the asperities, the velocity and the load can lead the pressure and the film thickness to change drastically.
