Electronic toll collection system (ETC) is one of the most important projects in the intelligent transportation system (ITS). As the development of ITS research, ETC system is to expand quickly in the international community, becoming a market and industry opportunity with huge scale. In the domestic, the region, where the transportation has great capacity and requests a quick exaltation level of service, has already or will soon import ETC equipment. And Thanks to the superiority of the ETC system, which causes the behavior of importing actively, the rapid expansion of using ETC system is expanded by oneself and more and more obvious.The ETC system includes two parts: one is roadside unit (RSU), and the other is on-board equipment (OBU).The OBU carries out the dedicated short range communication with the RSU through the air interface, completing bargain process.The DSRC protocol is a kind of short range wireless communication protocols, which is applied exclusively in the intelligence transportation field. It defines three layers, physical layer, data linker layer, and application layer, which is based on the frequency of 5.8Ghz. It is a standard of interactive communication in the single or double directions between vehicle and roadside equipments. And with the help of this protocol, the roadside and vehicle unit are connected together. Thereby the transportation control center can manage the vehicle with the communication data of the driving vehicle. At the same time, the vehicle can connect into the transportation information network and use the information resources in the network.This thesis is on the focus of the designing idea, content, and realization mechanism of DSRC, And on these basises, the auther elaborates the implementation of DSRC communications protocol at OBU in ETC system, and through field testing of its communication process, we can verify the consistency of the protocol.The thesis has been written on basis of the following innovational achievement.(1) Designed for low-power implementation, the system uses TI's MSP430 single chip microcomputer as the control chip, OBU using passive mode of wake-up call.(2) DSRC protocol in accordance with the standards of our country demands, the author achieves a flexible DSRC communications protocol to enhance efficiency, reduce the amount of time spent on communication.(3) with the field testing data and reliable results, we can really verify the consistency of the protocol.Above all, The implementation of the standards of the DSRC protocol, is a solid foundation of upgrading and expanding the application of function of our country DSRC equipment.
