The jacketed rod consists of a central high-density rod surrounded by a low-density and higher Young's modulus jacket.In order to explore the oblique penetration ability of this special rod, In this paper the phenomenon was studied that the target of semi-infinite is penetrated obliquely by jacketed rod.Using the new dynamic model of ANSYS/Workbench, the oblique penetration ability of jacketed rod has been simulated. The structural parameters(length/diameter ratio, sheath thickness, core diameter), material parameters(core material, sheath material)and different penetration angles(0°to 60°) are the main aspects, which involve the oblique penetration ability to be explored in this paper. And the law how the jacket structure affect the terminal ballistic performance was got. At the same time, an analysis on crater situation of the jacketed rod was made, the result is consistent with the actual crater.Armor-piercing mechanism under the oblique penetration of the jacketed rod has been explored in this paper, which laid the foundation to improve the penetration ability with increasing the kinetic ratio,enhancing the anti-rod bending and breaking capacity.
