The performance and reliability of the working mechanism of hydraulic excavator is an important symbol of machine. And the design of this device will have a direct impact on the performance of the machine. As the excavator is forwarding to faster, heavy load, high-precision and lighter, and the requirement of reducing the energy consumption is improved, it is necessary to promote the working mechanism design level though doing system research on it. Under this background and combining the national "863" project, aiming at obtaining structural optimum design, the static and dynamic characteristics and optimization design of the working mechanism are researched. The main research work as follows:The development of hydraulic excavator and research on working mechanism of excavator are surveyed. The structure and working characteristics are analyzed. And the meanings of the thesis are pointed out.Static and dynamic models of the excavator working mechanism facing to strength analysis are derived, then the calculational module is programmed with MATLAB GUI to give results of static and dynamic parameters, which established base for strength analysis and optimization design.The 3D model of the boom and arm are established and static structural analysis of typical work condition is accomplished automatically in ANSYS. Based on linear superposition principle, the most dangerous working condition of the digging range for boom and arm are obtained and structural analysis of this work condition are also completed.Through the software of ANSYS and ADAMS, the rigid-flexible hybrid virtual prototype of the hydraulic excavator which the boom and arm are flexible is constructed. The paper makes dynamic Strength, modal analysis and shock response analysis for assembled working mechanism. The results can be applied for the guide of working mechanism dynamic design.Based on the hydraulic excavator SWE90H, the experiments of testing cylinders'pressure and flow, vibration test of working mechanism and stress measurement are carried out, The experimental results verify that the theoretical analysis and the simulated models in this study are effective and practical.Parametric solid-shell model of the boom with APDL providing a way to product serial design and strength analysis is built. Sensitivity analysis and optimum design of multi-work condition are finished, which provided the guiding significance for the theoretical basis for the structural optimum design of the boom.
