With nicer specific stiffness, specific strength and higher heat resistance, titanium alloy is the key material for high performance aero-engine to reduce weight and improve thrust-to-weight ratio. Thus it is widely used in fan, compressor and other components of modern aero-engines. However, titanium alloy is easily get burnt, for its low coefficient of heat conductivity and high enthalpy when oxidized and burned. Once it gets burned, the engine will be destroyed in a few seconds, leading to crash and casualty. As a result, great importance has been attached to the prevention of titanium fire after a certain engine subjected to titanium fire accident in China. Under such situation, this paper presents analyses of several aspects of titanium fire resistance technologies and discusses them with test results.On the details of titanium fire resistance technologies, through the track and comparison analysis of the up-to-date research at home and abroad, the mechanism and estimate methods of fire retardant titanium alloy, as well as the successfully used system are explored. Preliminary research and demonstration of titanium fire retardant technology are conducted; risks and problems in the construction are also pointed out. The research of fire retardant composite coating technology in the inner wall of case are investigated. According to the filtration of coating material and comparison analysis of test results, it can be found out the fire retardant coating which can resist titanium fire , and also with other good performance as well as the potential of engineering application. After sum-up, the research group put forward the analyze technology of tip radial clearance and calculated the clearance of a certain compressor and discussed its validity to prevent fire. The paper also compared and analyzed the preferable fire retardant mechanism designs.Finally ,the validity experimental demonstration of the fire retardant technology was verified.
