China has the greatest rice production and consumption in the world. However, the lack of water, droughts and other reasons condition China's rice production and development. As a result, to develop water-saving rice like dry-land rice is a necessary measure to increase China's rice production.Brazil Upland Rice IAPAR9, a gift given to China by Brazil, has been tested and planted successfully, showing many advantages, such as the tolerance to drought, high production and adjustability. In China, this topic has been researched by many experts and scholars from different aspects, among which the study of Regulated Deficit Irrigation indicates that the moderate lack of water not only greatly reduces irrigation quantity, but also greatly improves the production. These studies provide a theoretical basis for the expansion and development of Brazil Upland Rice in large areas. In this study, firstly, the constant pressure spray irrigation is chosen according to the planting characteristics of Brazil Upland Rice. Secondly, based upon the actual statistics of Regulated Deficit Irrigation, the soil humidity in different growth stages, the changes of root length and the cost of probe heads, the control plan, procedure and the circuit diagram have been devised. The system has adopted simple-structured, self-made probe heads, which cost a little and are easy to make, whose measurement of humidity is timely and reliable, and which are valuable to be applied.
