The experiment was carried out in the main cotton field桾ianmen, Hubei to study the character of yield and fiber quality development about some new colored cotton: MAX216, FS-12, 80540 and some new high quality cotton MS29, N0101, un You-I in 2000. The result shows as follows: 1. The dry matter accumulation, nutrient absorption about the colored cotton, high quality cotton all are changes in logistic curve, Showing the tendency of slow? quick梥low. During the quickly improving period, the cotton accumulates and absorbs about 60% dry matter and nutrient, It抯 the most important period about the yield抯 and quality抯 development. But how many dry matter accumulation, nutrient absorption exist difference, except Jinyou- 1, the other varieties?dry matter accumulation, nutrient absorption is lower than the CK, it抯 the matter reason why their yield is low the CK. About nutrient uptake of N, P205, K20 in every organs, the N, P205 mainly distribute to leaf, while the K20 mainly distribute to fruit branch and stem. The other organs shows difference of up-taking N, P205, K20, usually more nutrient distribute to reproduction organ under high yield and more nutrient distribute to fruit branch or stem under low yield. 2. The variety is the decisive factor of yield and fiber quality, the applying fertilizer is the main factor, but the density and the growing fruit branch is each main factor of yield and quality. In the yield components, the total bolls are the most important contribution to the yield, but the boll weight and lint percent is very low, becoming the limited factor to further improve the yield. In addition, the total bolls, boll weight and lint percent of green cotton are lower than the brown cotton, It抯 the 44 direct reason why the yield is lower than the brown cotton, and it抯 dry matter accumulation, nutrient absorption low the brown cotton is the indirect reason. 3. The correlation of yield and fiber quality with some characters about colored cotton and high quality cotton shows much difference, Such as difference of correlation抯 degree and orientation. In the yield components about colored and high quality cotton, the total boils and yield are notable positive correlation(0.830**, 0.745**), boll weight and total bolls are notable negative correlation(~0.461*,~ 0.60 1 **), but yield has low correlation with lint percent and boll weight. The growing character about colored and high quality cotton, such as the number of dropping, total fruit joints, the layer of fruit branch, plant high are weak related with yield, but about high quality cotton, the number of dropping, total fruit joints and thin degree, length, stretch length percent, regular degree, the layer of fruit branch and length, stretch length percent are notable correlation, about colored cotton, the number of dropping, plant high and intensity, thin degree are notable correlation, showing the effecting difference about growing character to yield and quality. In addition, the fiber quality has lower correlation with yield about colored cotton, while has high correlation with high quality cotton. Otherwise, length stretch percent and thin degree, intensity, regular degree; intensity and regular degree are notable correlation about colored cotton and high quality cotton.
