One of the current advances in theory and technique of forest in world is container seedling culture. Fertilization is a main diction for cultivating strong seedling. Nutrition is the basic of growth for seedling. Resonabke fertilization can improve the quality and quantity of seedling. Pinus tabulaeformis, Platycladus orientalis and Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica are main afforestation trees in Northern China. How to cultivate seedling of high production and quality is a key problem in afforesting, however, in the course of our work of seedling culture, fertilizer has been wasted and seedling grow bad because there is not a suitable fertilizer scope. Nutrition diagnosis is an applied technology concerned nutrition of seedling and soil chemistry, it is a method through technology of biology and chemistry for analyzing the abundant or insufficient of nutrition in course of the growth of seedling. Scientific judgement for guiding fertilization will be drawn through diagnosis. This study deals with the fertilizer effect and the nutrition diagnosis of these three seedlings. Its aim is to find the best fertilizer quantity so as to provide the theoretical foundation for production. This study set up varied compound fertilizers and dosages and many field fertilization experiments (include complete design and orthogonal design). Reasonable fertilization amounts of these three seedlings (one year) are determined through the method of balanced nutrition and function of fertilizer effect. Reasonable nutrition concentration and the parameter of DRIS in these three seedlings (one year) are determined through the method of nutrition diagnosis. The result as follows:1.Analysis is made of mineral nutrition contents in these three seedlings It has been found that nitrogen is the essential element required in the largest quantity, followed by potassium and phosphorous.2.According to field fertilization experiment: the reasonable fertilizer quantity of Pinus tabulaeformis are CO(N1-12)2 0.22g/kg soil (the second level), Ca(HIPO4)2 I .Og/kg soil (the second level); the reasonable fertilizer quantity of Platycladus orientalis are CO(NH2)2 0.43-O.87gIkg soil (the secondand the third level), Ca(HPO4)2 1 .0-2.Og/kg soil (the secondand the third level); the reasonable fertilizer quantity of Pinus sylvestris var mongolica are CO(NI-12)2 0.22gIkg soil (the second level), Ca(HPO4)2 1 .Oglkg soil (the second level) Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica is very sensitive to fertilizer. The influence of K2S04 is small to these three seedlings.3.According to the method of balanced nutrition: the reasonable fertilization amounts are CO(NH2)2 0.323g1kg soil, Ca(HPO4)2 1.l58glkg soil to Pinus tabulaeformis; CO(NH2)2 0.5 199g/kg soil, Ca(I-1P04)2 1.1 134g/kg soil to Plalycladus orientalis; CO(NH2)2 0.3307g1kg soil, Ca(HPO4)2 1.1 56g/kg soil to Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica. The reasonable fertilization ratio to these three seedlings as so: 0.lgN: 0.lgP2Os: 0.I-O.3gK2OtoPinus tabulaeformis; 0.2-O.4gN:0.lg P205: 0.l-O.3g K20 to Platycladus orientalfs; 0.lg N: 0.lg P205: 0.l-0.3g K20 to Pinu.s sylvestris var mongolica.4.According to the method of function of fertilizer effect: the reasonable fertilization amounts are CO(NH2)2 0.3123g/kg soil, Ca(HPO4)2 1.5813g1kg soil to Pinus tabulaeformis; CO(NH2)2 0.6779g1kg soil, Ca(HPO4)2 1 .0477g/kg soil to Plalycladus orientalis; CO(NH2)2 0.1659g/kg soil, Ca(HPO4)2 0.58 17g/kg soil to Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica.5.According to the diagnosis of critical value: the reasonable nutrition concentration are N354.6ppm, P 234.72 ppm ,K 760 ppm to Pinus tabulaeformis; N 101.95 ppm, P 150.38 ppm, K970 ppm to Platycladus orientalis; N 262.0 ppm, P 238.81 ppm, K 1390 ppm to Pinu.s sylvestrisvar. mongolica.6.According to soil diagnosis: the reasonable nutrition concentration in soil are N 107.09 ppm, P 50.53 ppm, K 139.l5ppm to Pinus tabulaeformis and Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, N 115.01 ppm, P 38.51 ppm,109.56 ppm to Platyclczdu.s orientalis.7.DRIS is adopted to diagnose the st...
