For the purpose of improving seedling growth and recircling use of tending residues on fluvo-aquic soil in Beijing plain, a field plot trial has been carried out in Beijing Forestry University Nursery to study the effects of tending residue compost on the growth of different ages of seedling of platycladus orientalis, pinus tabulaeformis and soil nutrients. Fall application rate treatments were 350 g·m-2,500 g·m-2,650 g·m-2. Application season treatments were fall application rate 650 g·m-2, fall appplication rate of 300 g·m-2+spring application rate of 350 g·m-2. Main results were as follows:(1) All three fall application rate treatment increased the ssedling height and base diameter of three-year platycladus orientalis. compared with CK, fall application rate of 350 g·m-2,500 g·m-2,650 g·m-2 increased seedling height by 33.21%,23.49%,10.12% and base diameter by 27.67%,21.04%, 9.87% separately. All three fall application rate significantly improved the contents of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium. All three fall application rate also remarkarblely increased leaf contents of total nitrogen, total phosphorus and total potassium, the higher the rate the graeter increase of leaf nutrition.(2) Both application season treatments significantly improved the seedling height and base diameter of different ages of platycladus orientalis and pinus tabulaeformis, obviously improved the contents of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium in different soil layers and the surface layer increased more than that of the subsurface, remarkablely improved the leaf content of total nitrogen, total phosphorus and total potassium, fall application rate 650 g·m-2 was better than fall appplication rate of 300 g·m-2+spring application rate of 350 g·m-2.Application of tending residue compost with three different rates and two different seasons could significantly promote the height and base diameter of different ages platycladus orientalis and pinus tabulaeformis. improved the content of soil nutrient, this result may provides references for applying or re-circling use of tending residues compost on nursery developed on fluvo-aquic soil in Beijing plain.
