| Ephestia elutella (Hubner) is a primary pest in stored tobacco in Shaanxi .with oberservation in-door and in warehouse ,the life history .biological characters and its central techniques were studied .The results are as follows:1. Ephestia elutella completes two or three generations with obvious overlappig generations per year ,overwintering as grown larvae in warehouse. The adult appears three peaks per year in the first and second ten days of March, the first ten days of August and the first and second ten days of September. The first adult was seen to emerge in the end of March.2. The adult has no taxis to light trap. Most grown larvaes, about 66.7% to all population, come to surface pupate in stock pf stored tabacco. Also the larvae have three peaks per year in the first and second ten days of April, the first ten days of July and the first and second ten days of October.3. Under laboratory conditions, SCP of diapausing and free-diapausing larvaes were detected as -16.07 ± 1.97 ℃ and - 9.12 ± 0.97℃ .Overwintering larvaes were exposed at ± 0.5℃ and the subquence and survival, the motality were as 38.5%, 59.4%, 56.2% and 86.6%after 3,5,10,and 25 days respectively.4. The result of investigating in warehouse indicated that moisture of stored tobacco leaf is a factor to distribution of Ephestia elutella and leaf lose. With one sex-pheromone trap per 300m2 ,can monitor adult dynamics efficiently.5. Packaged with plastic film or brown paper, tobacco leaf were protected from the larvae and moth of E. elutella .6. test of indoor bioassary and warehouse trail indicated that 800 folds of 80% dichlorvos, 2000 folds of 20% fenvalerate 2000 folds of 5% cypermethrin and 2000 folds 20% fenpropathrin were efficient to control the larvae.7. integrated control measures including fumigant of phosphine, spraying with fenvalerate and trapping of sex-pheromone resulted in 84.1% reduction of population from 1999 to 2000. |
