Western Sichuan Forest Recreation Resources And Development

Sichuan is a big province which abound in natural resources. The forest resources mostly distributed in the west part of the province. It is also the main forest region in the south-west of China. The west of Sichuan is situated between the India board and Asia-Europe board,which link the Sichuan Basin and Qingzhang Plateau. So its geological structure and landscape is unique. There are plenty of ecological environment resources,nature landscape resources and culture resources. It provides the solid foundation of resources to develop forest recreation. But the forest recreation has developed so quickly that there is blindness and destructiveness in the development of forest recreation in late decade. Many developed projects of forest recreation are identical but with minor differences. A lot of business only pursue unique characteristics and build artificial landscape without the consideration of the function of forest for environmental protection,scientific research and education. Ecological resources of forest recreation have been ignored. As a result that the diversify of living things and nature landscape resources were destroyed and too many man-made landscapes teemed in forest park. So,in this article the developed process and the prospects of forest recreation all over the world were reviewed. The mengement organizations and businesses of forest recreation have been analysed systematicly on the basis of making a summary for the development of forest recreation in China today. Forest recreation resources in the west of Sichuan were divided into nature landscape resources human culture resources and ecological environmental resources. The types of forest recreation action and relation between forest recreation resources and forest recreation action have been further analysed in the light of recreation needs and recreation intentions. It is pointed out that forest recreation resources possess three characteristics including concentration unique characteristics and plentiful characteristics in the west of Sichuan . The subject of developing forest recreation in the west of Sichuan have been discussed,and the principle and strategy for sustainable development of forest recreation in this area have been suggested.
