This article elaborately studied the ability and mechanism of dissolving the silicate minerals of B. mucilaginosusoffered by China Agriculture Academy of Science. The fermentation of B. mucilaginosus and technology of producing biological potassium fertilizer were also studied. In addition, the environment conditions influencing the survival of B. mucilaginosus and its effect on the tobacco were also studied. It was found that B. mucilaginosus has different potassium-soluting ability for different kinds of minerals and the same mineral in different culture medium. As far as the ability of B. mucilaginosus decomposing of silicate minerals, the experiments showed that it could dissolve soil mineraK feldspar, mica and release the K+ and Si02 from the crystal lattice. At the same time the result also showed that there was a correlation between the ability of dissolving the mineral and its polysaccharides of capsule.Obtaining the high level of cfu/mL is the key in producing biological fertilizer. Therefore, the media components and cultivation conditions of Bacillus mucilaginosus were investigated through single-factor and orthogonal tests. The tests showed the optimum fermentation medium was consisted of molasses 20g, bean cake meal 5g, K2HP04 0. 5g, CaC031 g, MgS04 . 7H20 0.1 g, Na2HP04 0. 1g and CaC03 1 g every liter. The incubate condition is: temperature 36"C, 30ml inventory/250ml flask and pH 7. 5. The media and incubate condition were also used in the fermentor. In this condition the titre was 8. 1 X 108 cfu/mL and it measured up to the national standard of biological potassium fertilizer. To research the influence of the environment conditions on thesurvival of B. mucilaginosus the bacterium was labeled with streptomycin. The results showed temperatures , sterile soil , unsterile soil and different soils had little influence on the survival rate. In addition, the pots experiment showed that the biological potassium fertilizer could increase the height and the output of the tobacco.
